Life Groups are a group of people that meet together regularly (once every other week or so) to share a meal together, and to look at the Bible together to see how it can address their lives.
It is an informal time when we can learn from each other, share our stories and lives together, and grow spiritually as a group.
Typically each get together lasts for a couple of hours and involves lots of coffee, snacking and conversation as we allow God to use our relationships to sharpen us spiritually. There is no dress code, and childcare may be available depending upon what the group decides.
Sunday morning really isn’t enough to grow spiritually. It is kind of like the icing on the cake — it tastes great, but you can’t really live off of it. You need more. Our Life Group Ministry is designed to connect you with like-minded individuals who can both give and receive from you, as you all seek to grow closer to God.
When Jesus showed people how to follow him, He didn’t just tell them from the mountain tops and then tell them to come back “next Sunday” for the next part. He ate fish by the sea shore with them. He walked with them to Emmaus. He prayed for healing of their diseases. He spent hours talking to them about life and death and everything in between. He invested in them, and in turn it changed their lives. Jesus modeled what it meant to be involved in a “Life Group” if you will.
In the book of Acts Chapter 2:44-47, this is one of the very first descriptions we have of the early church. Sounds pretty good doesn’t it? It sounds like a life group!
And all those who had believed were together and had all things in common;
45 and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people.
And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.
So that’s what a Life Group is, and why we do it! Come join us!
