Here at New Life, we embrace a giving lifestyle. There is tremendous joy found in giving and investing in things that will outlive us here on earth.
Our members, church attenders & pastoral staff give, because we have been given so much by God; and we want to honor God with our resources.
Proverbs 3:9-10 tells us “Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; so your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine.” Giving to God & others, through the church, is one way of doing this. Why should we give?
When we give, it is an intentional act of faith and declaration to God that we want to be like him (God is a giver!), and we are trusting ultimately in him to sustain us; not our income. We are not only saying we love God and want to follow him, we are actually putting action to our words by investing in causes important to the heart of God (helping other people find Jesus!). It is an act of obedience, faith and love.
After all, God showed it pretty well in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him, should not perish but have everlasting life.“
God gave first. We respond by giving a portion of his blessings back to him, so that more people can know Him as we seek to fulfill the Great Commission. There are many other verses that talk about giving as well (Malachi 3:8-12, 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 are just a few).
Every year, (usually around September), the members of our church meet together to pass a budget for the following year. We continually look at how we can better spread the hope found in Jesus to our local community, and we desire the flow of the resources God provides to reflect our mission to make and mature followers of Jesus Christ.
Because you give, we are able to spread the good news of Jesus here and around the world.
We are able to offer great children’s programming during our service, we host a MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) group at the church, & we have recently planted a church in Lee, Massachusetts. Right off the top we turn around and invest 15-18% of the gifts we are given in causes outside of ourself.
We help families in need as we are able, and we support other local ministries that have a dramatic impact on our community (like Berkshire Christian School & New Direction Pregnancy Care Center). We invest in local outreach efforts designed to show Christ’s love to our community, and also put on a conference for young ladies designed to help them understand God’s audacious love for them, and the emotional stability that can bring to everyday life.
Our goal is to be a place of hope for the hurting, a lighthouse in a dark world, a place where the broken and lost find peace and direction. And most importantly, a place that shares the life changing message of Jesus with our community and the world. When you give, you join with us in ministering!
Because others have given in the past, many have come to know God personally and have embraced a happier, healthier lifestyle that honors God. He (God) has revolutionized marriages, restored broken relationships, broken habits and hangups, and everybody who gave had a chance to support that; what an investment!
